Vilas County is being asked by various ATV clubs to let them open their shared trails in order to give local businesses a helping hand since there isn’t enough snow for snowmobile trails to be open. County ordinances don’t allow for shared trails to be used by snow vehicles and atvs at the same time. A letter to the Vilas County parks and recreation committee by the Landover ATV/UTV Club said they were only asking for permission on snowmobile trails that allow ATVs other times of the year. They wouldn’t operate if the conditions allowed for snowmobiling. Iron, Ontonagon and Gogebic counties have already made similar decisions to try and salvage whats left of a fairly disastrous winter season in the region.
