Lack of Snow Continues to Affect Winter Tourism

Vilas and Oneida counties have announced that although the snowfall over the last couple of weeks was welcome, it was not enough to allow snowmobile trails in the area to open. TheLakelandTimes reports a press release said the said the county’s snowmobile trail system, which includes all funded and non-funded trails and routes, will remain closed and that unsafe conditions were the most important trail issue. In Oneida, all nine trail clubs were consulted and the general consensus was that there simply hasn’t been enough snow. Trails are all at least a month behind schedule in opening.
