A woman has died of an apparent drug overdose while in custody at the Vilas County Jail. PublicRadio reports Jessica Barry of Ashland died shortly after 6 p.m. on the 1st. Correctional officers responding said inmates said they though Barry was overdosing. Officers administered 6 doses of Narcan to Barry, along with performing chest compressions and using a defibrillator to try and resuscitate her to no avail. Her next of kin, Ashland County officials and leaders of the Bad River Tribe were all made aware of her death. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin Department of Justic are investigating the death.
