The owners of La Monarca’s Taqueria held a tamale sale to help benefit the family of Manuel and Luis Garcia Salas, the two brothers killed in a shooting outside the Stagecoach Bar and Grill earlier in the month. TheAshlandDailyPress reports since the shooting, La Monarca has become a touch point for the community wanting to express their condolences, with people leaving flowers and other momentos at the front entrance of the restaurant. On Sunday, the 1,000 tamales made for the benfit sold out in less than an hour. The money raised by the tamale benefit combined with contributions from the GoFundMe page for the two brothers will help send them home to Veracruz, Mexico a final time.
