The Michigan State Court Administrative Office announced that it will give $1 million in grant awards to 12 district courts throughout the state in order to establish new initiatives that assist defendants in fulfilling their outstanding financial and legal duties in order to be allowed to drive again. The Operation Drive programs will work jointly with defendants toward restoring driving privileges so they may more readily access resources for getting to work and support families, according to Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanagh.
The 95B District Court of Dickinson County and the 98th District Court of Ontario are two of the courts that have received awards. In compliance with program requirements, each court will create its own Operation Drive program.
