Applications for Congressional Discretionary Spending awards related to three ongoing city projects were approved by Ironwood City Commission members this week. Paul Anderson, the city manager, provided a summary of the planned projects:that includes The Affordable Housing Project by Wells Fargo.According to Anderson in a related agenda report, “the city of Ironwood has been in talks with a developer for multiple years to create 50 units of affordable housing at the old Wells Fargo site held by the city of Ironwood in downtown Ironwood.”The developer now has a funding deficit of $2.5 million. In addition, Anderson pointed out that the city would have to apply for a $10 million low-income housing tax credit through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, or MSHDA, in order for the project to be successful.
