Wisconsin’s 2025 Elk Season Is In The Books

Wisconsin’s 2025 elk hunt wrapped up mid month, and saw 13 successful harvests from over 26,000 applicants, which the DNR calls a success. State hunters filled all nine Black River zone tags (five antlerless, four bull) and harvested four bulls in the Clam Lake zone against an eight-bull quota, totaling seven bulls and five antlerless elk. Tribal hunters can hunt until Jan. 4, 2026. The $7 application fees support the DNR’s Elk Management Program for habitat and research. The 2026 application period is projected for March 1-May 31, with the season starting Oct. 17. Find more information at dnr.wisconsin.gov under hunting.
