Wakefield’s State Funding Request Goes Unanswered

Wakefield Township’s $50 million state funding request for infrastructure, was denied in Michigan’s new budget. TheDailyGlobe reports Supervisor Mandy Lake called the rejection a potential “bargaining chip” and a valuable lesson, vowing to continue seeking funds. The funding would have also supported the Copperwood Project, whose developer, Highland Copper Company, also had its $50 million grant rejected. Despite this, state and local officials reaffirmed their commitment to the project, citing growing support. InvestUP CEO Marty Fittante expressed confidence, and Senator Elissa Slotkin endorsed the project, bringing bipartisan support.
