Scheduled Work Will Temporarily Halt Access to Local Lake

Lake Gogebic State Park’s day-use area along M-64 at Lake Gogebic and boating access site will be temporarily closed today, Wednesday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT. This closure is necessary to allow contractors to install new power lines and electrical panels in the day-use area. Boaters wanting access to Lake Gogebic during the closure can use alternate sites at the Bergland Dock, approximately 12 miles north along M-28, or the East Shore access site, 8 miles from the park along East Shore Road. The electrification project, being completed by Keweenaw Power & Lite, LLC of Hancock, is part of a larger, American Rescue Plan Act-funded campground improvement initiative at the park.
