NOAA Predctions Hopeful For Good Winter This Year

NOAA’s latest long-range winter forecast predicts colder-than-normal temperatures for the Upper Peninsula and northern Plains from December to February. The entire Great Lakes region, including the UP, is forecast to have wetter-than-average conditions. Above average precipitation is expected, with cooler than average temps for the western U.P. A weak La Niña is expected to bring an active storm track from the Ohio River Valley to Michigan, leading to above-normal precipitation. This suggests a “good old Michigan winter” with various winter weather types, hopefully including lots of snow.
