Residents in Price County Will Have Closer Medical Facility Available

A new hospital has opened in Park Falls. The new $35 million Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls project was aided by a $20 million state grant. The facility offers 24-hour emergency and nearly 25 other services, including pediatric and women’s health, addressing regional healthcare needs. Governor Evers highlighted the project’s role in improving healthcare access, creating jobs, and fostering community growth. Construction began in 2023, with completion celebrated recently. Ty Erickson, hospital president, noted the project “will significantly enhance our ability to serve the community.” There are 46 rural counties in the state. Data from the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health showed rural residents often have to drive further to receive medical care. According to the governor’s office, the closest similar medical facility is approximately an hour away, making this project all the more critical.
