At the September 8 Park Falls Common Council meeting, the council discussed applying for a $200,000 façade loan program grant through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. If awarded, these funds would support a facade program designed to enhance the appearance of the downtown area. The city would provide a $100,000 match through a Small Business Development Corporation Centers (SBDC) award and an additional $100,000 from its general fund. This general fund contribution was made possible by a $207,500 cell phone tower buyout offer from American Tower Corporation in June, which offered a one-time payment as an alternative to continuing a 42-year lease.
