Ironwood Moves One Step Closer to New Ice Equipment at Pat O’Donnell

The Ironwood City Commission has approved an engineering plan with a budget of $19,995 by B32 Engineering Group Inc. for the installation of the new ice refrigeration system at Pat O’Donnell Civic Center. City Manager Paul Anderson stated that the company would provide project engineering and bid specifications, terms required by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as part of a $750,000 grant agreement. The grant, with a $375,000 match from the Civic Center Board, will cover engineering costs. B32 Engineering, with over 450 ice rink projects, including those at Michigan Tech, NMU, and the Heritage Center in Duluth, Minnesota, will contribute to improvements benefiting the Ironwood Lumberjacks hockey team. Commissioner James Mildren also noted that families who would welcome having a Lumberjack player live with them for the season are still needed.
