Aspirus has decided it will resume contract negotiations with the Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) after an unfair labor practice charge was filed. Nurses at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, whose contract expired August 2, seek competitive wages and oppose the September 17 closure of labor and delivery services and say in a statement said they remain ready and willing to continue the bargaining process. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) will guide next steps, while nurses at three Upper Peninsula Aspirus hospitals have launched a petition against staffing cuts.
