At Monday’s meeting, the Gogebic-Iron County Airport Board reviewed a survey on flight times, revealing the public’s preference for the earlier 1 p.m. departure to Chicago over the current 4:15 p.m. departure, which began in May to accommodate Denver Air’s new schedulem with 30-40 public comments in support of the earlier slot. Consequently, the board voted to revert to the original 1 p.m. departure, a change expected by late October due to Denver Air’s two-month notice requirement. Additionally, the board requested Airport Manager Jeremy Busch research hangar rental prices at nearby airports for comparison and is studying the cost of insulating another hangar for heated winter rentals. The board also heard positive July airline ridership reports, addressed FAA grant forms, and postponed budget discussions until September.
