Michigan’s own Destinee Kiel and Danielle Usher are gearing up for the ultimate dryland sled dog challenge: the International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS) World Championships. Held in Minocqua this October, the event features wheeled equipment like rigs, bikes, and scooters in place of traditional sleds. Representing the U.S. with their locally trained sled dogs, both mushers are aiming for top honors. Kiel will navigate a 3.1-mile course with a four-dog team and a three-wheel rig, while Usher will tackle a 2.4-mile course on a scooter with one dog. The fastest times will determine the champions.
