Gogebic County Votes to Migrate to the Cloud

The Gogbebic County Board of Commissioners at their last meeting voted to work toward converting the county to an internet cloud storage system. As reported in TheDailyGlobe, the county has hired BS&A Software of Bath, Michigan at the recommendation of the county’s Technology Committee and the County IT Director, Brandon Tauer. Securing a contract now, even though work won’t start for at least a year and half, guarantees savings on the service. And, the just under $119,000 set up cost won’t be charged until the 2026-27 fiscal year. Annual fee for the cloud storage service will be $44,000 annually, which won’t start until the project goes online in 2027-28. Using cloud service means less money spent on local IT maintenance and storage does not rely on computer hardware or local storage.
