U.P. Employers Receive Grant Funding for Training

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) has announced that 22 businesses in the U.P. will receive grant funding for employee training through the second cycle of the agency’s 2025 Going PRO Talent Fund. The Talent Fund grants awards to employees to assist in training, developing and retaining current and newly-hired employees. Training under this fund must be short-term, fill a demonstrated talent need experienced by the employer and lead to a credential for a skill that is transferable and recognized by industry. In Gogebic County, Bessemer Plywood Corporation and Mukavitz Heating, Inc., in Iron County, The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center Ice Lake and the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center in Ontonagon, Ontonagon County also received grants. Agencies and businesses in Chippewa, Delta, Dickinson, Houghton, Keweenaw, Marquette, Menominee and Schoolcraft also received allocations.
