Wakefield City Council Makes Decision On Possible Road Rebuild

At the most recent meeting of the Wakefield City Council, the board approved rebuilding a segment of public road if Highland Copper pays for it. TheDailyGlobe reports the Canadian company continues to work towards opening the Copperwood Mine in Wakefiled and Ironwood. City Manager Robert Brown Jr. said that most of the mile segment of County Road 519 is owned by Wakefield Township and the impact to the city would be minimal. The council also announced that vouchers for the city’s Spring Cleanup are available through the 13th to residents who have a utility account that includes trash. The $25 dollar vouchers can redeemed June 2nd through the 27th at the Gogebic Range Solid Waste Authority.
