ATV and UTV trails in Vilas and Oneida Counties are now open. Vilas County opened at the beginning of the month and Oneida County the following week. TheLakelandTimes reports ATV clubs in the county are sponsors of the county’s funded trail and route system and have worked hard to get trails ready for the upcoming season. Recreation Director of the Vilas County forestry, recreation and land department, has said the trails wouldn’t be available if it weren’t for all the hard volunteer work of those clubs. In Vilas County, lettered highways with the exception of those county highways in the Lac du Flambeau area, are open for ATV/UTV travel, numbered highways are not open for use. Riders are reminded that trails are in early season condition and may be wet in spots. Remember to stay on marked trails, obey all signs and regulations and ride responsibly.
