Work on Local Library Refurbishment Begins

Work has begun on the new addition to the Ironwood Carnegie Library. TheDailyGlobe reports a grant through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity along with fundraising efforts from the community is paying for the long-awaited refurbishment. And, a campaign being run by The Friends of the Ironwood Carnegie Library, will soon begin, which will match any funds raised. Links to that fundraising campaign through Patronicity will be posted to the library’s social media. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of Fall, and library director Lynne Wiercinski said that they will keep the public as updated as possible on whats going on, including some temporary closures which will be necessary as construction will require taking out some walls and removing the accessibility ramp, which is expected to be done by Friday.
