Prestigious Race Championships Coming to Minocqua

The International Federation of Sleddog Sports has announced that Minocqua has been selected as the first U.S. location for the Dryland World Championships. The first World Championships were held on snow in Switzerland in 1990, the dryland races started later in Italy in 2002. Traditionally, the competitions have been held overseas, with Spain, Poland, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Norway being some of the locations. Sherry Hulett, Sports & Group Travel Director at the Minocqua Area Visitors Bureau has said being chosen for the championships is a very big deal for Mincoqua, and the city will be honored to host competitors and spectators from around the world. It will be a chance to show off the natural beauty of the Northwoods. The sled dog races are scheduled for October 21-28, 2025 at Minocqua Winter Park.
