Discussion continues on what to plan for the Gogebic County Fair, since it has not been possible to book the traditional carnival midway for the event this year. TheDailyGlobe reports suggestions such as making Thursday night as an adult only night at the fair, with food, music and dancing has been floated. The board continues to look for additional ideas for entertainment. The board did decide not to cancel the Rodeo on Sunday and approved purchasing tickets for a $1 a ticket 50/50 raffle. The board was also informed that bides for the horse and hay barns have been opened, a report on what remains to be repaired at the fairgrounds was presented, the board got an update on tent rentals and discussed the possibility of the Friends of the Gogebic County Fair taking over the fair, although the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners hasn’t made decision on that yet. In April, the Fair Board will hear more entertainment ideas for the event, which is scheduled for August 7-10th at the Ironwood Fairgrounds.
