Ironwood Looks At Whats Next for Randa Field

After issues caused the City of Ironwood to dissolve its contract with the United Baseball Congress to move a semi-professional baseball team to the city, the question of how now to bring Randa Field up to date remains. TheDailyGlobe reports that City Manager Paul Anderson has said that up until February 21st, the City was looking forward to having the Ironwood Agates as a home team and be a part of the American Plains Regional League with 15 other teams. The City expected the refurbishment of Randa Field to be done by a nationally regarded baseball field contractor, and instead learned that at least a half dozen other contractors would be doing the bulk of the work. And on top of that, there was no guarantee that the field would be ready by the start of the season in May. Anderson says the experience, although disappointing, has pointed out to the City that there are still possibilities out there, and that if the United States Baseball Congress was interested in the area, Ironwood would consider the possibility of hosting another team.
