Fair Board Progress Report and A Major Change

The meeting of the Gogebic County Fair Board on Monday was a busy one…TheDailyGlobe reports the board accepted the resignation of Linda Nelson, who had been the chair of the Fair Board. In the absence of Nelson, Shelley Suckow, vice chair of the board, led the meeting. Finances for the entertainment for this year’s fair were discussed. The board considered cancelling the rodeo, if more funds would be needed to bring in or create multiple forms of smaller types of entertainment may be necessary since a carnival midway hasn’t been booked. Holly Ramme suggested creating a kids zone. No decisions were made, as the board thought it prudent to look at the financial reports in more detail, and find out what type of cancellation fee would be incurred if they did indeed have to cancel the rodeo. There will be a special meeting of the fair board of the 18th to discuss finances and entertainment possibilities again. Its expected the board will also vote on hiring a fair coordinator, social media management and figure plans for a June fundraising event.
