The town of Arbor Vitae is asking Vilas County to bring back the post of county medical examiner. According to TheLakelandTimes, towards the end of February, the deputy medical examiner for Oneida County resigned, iwth now Often times when there is a need for a medical examiner, one must come in from Oneida County. Arbor Vitae town supervisor Pam Carroll says right now, there can be overlaps and duplication of service agreements. Carroll expressed that it makes more sense for Vilas County to have its own medical examiner rather than paying for one to come when needed from another county. It was suggested that a letter of inquiry be sent to the Vilas County Board’s law enforcement and emergency committees as well as the whole county board. There was also the question of whether Vilas would have a stand alone person or whether the county would then share their services with other counties. The conversation will be continued in future meetings.
