Rental Owners Now Have New Rules to Comply With in Ashland

An ordinance requiring short term rental operators to apply for a license has been passed in Ashland. TheDailyPress reports city officials say the goal of the ordinance is to project those who live in the same area as the rentals. Each rental must be up to code and meet certain parking requirements. There is also an occupancy limit for rentals. According to the ordinance, the maximum number of guests is limited to two guests per bedroom, plus one guest elsewhere. The property owner or manager must be within 30 miles of the property at all times. City Administrator Brant Kucera says they’re not trying to put a cap on short term rentals, but rather they’re making sure everyone is accommodate, both residents and visitors to the area.
