Ironwood City Commission Decides to Take Action Regarding Vacant Properties

At the most recent meeting of the Ironwood City Commission, it was decide that homeowners whose property is vacant be mailed letters to see if the property remained vacant and whether the current owners would be interested in selling or renting the property. TheDailyGlobe reports there about 50 homes on a list compiled during a water usage study that appear to be vacant. The city’s Economic Development Corporation made the request to inquire as to the rental or sale of the properties, as the housing shortage in the area continues. The Commission also approved two resolutions, one that would change City Commission elections from odd years to coincide with even year general elections, which would save the cost of an odd year election and one that would change the commissioner’s terms to staggered four year terms. The next meeting of the Ironwood City Commission will be on the 24th at 5:30 pm.
