National Forest Service Announces Local Ranger Station Has Limited Hours

The Ottawa National Forest Ontonagon Ranger’s Office has announced it will operate with limited hours for the foreseeable future. The office will be open from 8 am to noon on Wednesdays only. The district is still looking to hire a receptionist to provide public service at that location. The Ottawa National Forest has five other locations that serve customers from 8 am to 4pm. The Ontonagon Ranger District Office serves the Ottawa National forest covering portions of southern Houghton county and eastern Ontonagon county. The district includes features like the Courtney Lake Campground, Bob Lake Campground, O Kun de Kun Falls hiking trails, and Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness area.
