Local Plant to Close

The Waupaca Foundry in a press release on Monday announced that it will be closing it’s Ironwood plant mid-February. The company, which employs about 4000, is headquartered in and operates three foundries in Waupaca, Wisconsin along with a machining-assembly center. It also has locations in Marinette and Tell City, Indiana. The company in the release said the Ironwood plant has been affected by changes in the industry and economic pressure. All employees have been offered jobs at the other Waupaca locations, Marinette or Tell City. It also says all functions of the Ironwood plant will be handled at the Waupaca plant after the Ironwood closure. The company also said it was fortunate to have such a highly skilled workforce in Ironwood, that it appreciated all the hard work put forth and hoped that those employees would explore opportunities at its other locations.
