The town board of Lac du Flambeau along with property owners filed an injunction against the Lac du Flambeau Band of Superior Chippewa Indians as part of the federal lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice against the town in May of 2023. Barricades have appeared near the entrances of the four roads in question, but have not been put back up, which prompted a closed town board meeting before announcing the motion to file the injunction. The petition for the injunction must be reviewed by a judge before it is made final. The tribal council had given the town until the 16th to make the latest payment for the use of the roads in question, that payment has not be made by the town. The tribal council announced Friday it will start issuing citations to non-tribal residents who trespass on roads at the center of ongoing easement dispute, which includes East Ross Allen Lake Lane, Annie Sunn Lane, Center Sugarbush Lane, and Elsie Lake Lane.
