Wisconsin DNR Talks Recycling Holiday Wrapping

As the days to Christmas count down, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds residents that a lot of the paper gifts can be wrapped in may not be recyclable. Flattened cardboard boxes, plastic #1 and #2 containers, aluminum cans, and glass bottles are all fine to be recycled. However a recycling symbol is only the first step to properly disposing of holiday wrapping. Batteries and electronic items can be a fire hazard and should be returned to specialized centers. Tissue paper especially the colored variety cannot be recycled, so consider careful reuse of that. Photo cards that play music, light up or have glitter or ribbons may have batteries or may be composed of non-recycleable materials. For more inforamtion, go to drn.wisconsin.gov.
