Wakefield Intersection Will Soon Return to Previous State

The Michigan department of Transportation has finished the traffic study connected to the intersection of US-2/M28-Sunday Lake Street in Wakefield and have determined that the traffic signal at that intersection is at this time unnecessary. The current all-way stop condition will remain in effect. The study determined this was the most appropriate intersection configuration. Next Tuesday morning, the 17th starting around 7 am, a crew will begin removing the existing traffic signal. The work will require the intersection to be closed at times and there may also be lane closures. Michigan State Police will maintain traffic control during the work. MDOT will continue to follow the intersection prior to a planned rebuilding project involving US-2.
