The City of Wakefield will soon have a new dog park. The Wakefield City Manager, Robert Brown says that since COVID, there haven’t been a lot of opportunities or places for social gatherings. The new fenced in area at Eddy Park will allow dogs to romp and will provide the chance for owners to socialize as well. The funding for the dog park will come in part from a matching grant for $137,000. In order to use the grant, Wakefield will contribute $37,000 to the project. Brown also says Wakefield gets a lot of traffic and he hopes the dog park will encourage people to come, walk their dogs and then stop and shop at local businesses.
