Need for Blood Donations in U.P. At Critical Levels

The Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center has announced it is experiencing a shortage of Negative blood types, especially O and A Negative. The center serves as a level two trauma center and there is high demand for blood product. Dana Langsford of the Regional Blood Center that having rare blood types on hand could be a matter of life or death for some patients. Besides rare blood types, Langsford says platelets are alway needed, as they have a shorter shelf life, lasting only seven days after being collected.
