Low Income Utility Assistance Gets Boost from State Grant

The Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP) Energy & Climate Office has received a grant to provide expanded heat, electric, water and waste utility assistance to low-incom, and asset limited, income constrained, employed residents in the U.P. The SWP is the only non-profit organization in the U.P. to receive the $1.5 million grant out of ten grants awarded in the state. Households with incomes up to 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) that have been approved for State Emergency Relief since October 1, 2024 may qualify for assistance with participating water and waste bills, and households with incomes between 151% and 300% FPL may qualify for heat, electric water and waste with participating providers. U.P. residents who may benefit from the program should go to superiorwatersheds.org or phone their office for more information.
