At its last meeting, the Bessemer City Council voted approve the approve the contract of the city’s new clerk/treasurer. TheDailyGlobe reports Samantha Zacovek has been working as the deputy clerk since earlier in the year after former clerk/treasurer Mandy Lake began working as interim city manager. Lake, Zacovek and utility clerk Lisa Sellin have worked to make sure any of the three of them can cover each other in the office in the event of illness or vacations. With Zacovek moving to the clerk/treasurer’s position, there will be need to hire a new deputy clerk. That position will be posted internally for seven days before being advertised publicly.
