The Marenisco Town Board of Trustees were given a presentation by a company that wants to build a new marijuana grow facility in the township if the state of Michigan will agree to sell the former Ojibway Correctional Facility. Township supervisor Bruce Mahler told TheDailyGlobe that Wisconsin company Whispering Cedar, LLC made an an offer to the state. The amount of the offer hasn’t been disclosed. Mahler says he doesn’t know of any other officers to buy that property, which has been unused since the state closed the prison in 2018. Whispering Cedar LLC hasn’t clarified plans for the facility other than it would house a grow, processing and testing facility on part of the land.
