Wisconsin DNR Needs Deer Harvest Data

Hunters are reminded that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is in need of data taken from testing of deer harvested this fall, especially in priority areas where CWD has been found. CWD is a contagious, fatal neurological disease that affects deer, elk, moose and caribou. The disease can be spread through animal to animal contact, in the environment through bodily substances or from the carcasses of infected animals. Free and accessible options for testing are available, including self-service kiosks where hunters can drop off a deer head. Full information on Chronic Wasting Disease, testing, disposal options and baiting and feeding bans can be found at dnr.wisconsin.gov.
