PSC to Hike Ashland Water Rates, But Not As Much As Expected

Public comments submitted to the Public Service Commision of Wisconsin have been taken into account when it comes to a proposed hike in Ashland’s city water rates. TheDailyPress reports the PSC had made the decision earlier in August to raise rates by 52% over two years, but after hearing some three dozen comments from residents, decided to only raise the rate by 44.4%. So now Ashland residents can expect to see their water rates increase by 18% on the 11th and 26% in the Fall of 2025. The city has determined that the 44.4% increase will be enough to pay off the cost of replacing the city’s water intake pipe, which has been in service for over a hundred years.
