Local City Council Makes Move to Bring Better Internet to Community

The Ashland City Council has approved a five year lease agreement a company called Vertical Bridge which will lease a piece of city owned property along Rail Drive on which the company plans on erecting a 165-foot-tall antenna tower to be built by architectural/engineering firm Ramaker. TheAshlandDailyPress reports the tower will be fenced off and will not interfere with local homeowners. Vertical Bridge will pay the city $800 a month rent to keep their 165 foot tower on the property. Verizon wireless will install its equipment on the tower, and there is room for more telecommunications equipment on the tower, which is part of the city’s strategic plan; to welcome and provide consistent, reliable and affordable high-speed internet to the area.
