The publisher of the Lakeland Times has filed a motion to place a lien on Kirk Bangstad’s interest in the Minocqua Brewing Company to ensure payment of the defamation judgements against Bangstad and the company. TheLakelandTimes reports that if the judgement is not paid in a timely manner, the court could force the sale of the comapny to fulfill those obligations. Wisconsin state law says that a judgement creditor can request a charging order against a judgement debtor to ensure satisfaction of the judgement. The two judgments total over a million dollars. To date, Bangstad has not made any effort to make payments on the judgements and has indicated he has no intent of doing so.
