A Portage woman died after being injured in an ATV crash in Vilas County over the holdiay weekend. The call to 911 came in late Saturday afternoon, reporting an accident on Monheim Road 15 minutes north of Eagle River in the Town of Conover. The caller said she’d been thrown from the vehicle and was unconscious. The 49-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in Eagle River and was then flown to Aspirus Wausau where she later died of her injuries. Conover Ambulance, Fire & Rescue, Aspirus Eagle River Ambulance, and Wisconsin DNR all assisted at the scene. Law enforcement was witholding identification until her family could be notified.
