Local Governing Body to Receive Small Raise

The Iron County Board of Commissioners has voted to give themselves a pay increase on January 1st of 2025. The board hopes the increase will encourage more residents to run for board positions. It’s been voiced by the public that the current board pay wasn’t enough. Commissioners and the board Chair will see a $275 increase, and the finance chair will see a $325 increase in monthly pay. Commissioner Ean Bruette says one doesn’t run for a seat on the board for the pay, the job can be stressful and complex and he understands why someone might not want to run. The increase will add another $17,000 to Iron County’s annual budget.
