Crash Could Mean Decades Long Prison Term for U.P. Woman

A Bayfield woman is slated to make her first appearance in court on Tuesday after being charged with child neglect, child abandonment and reckless endangerment after leaving her two children in her vehicle after crashing into another car in June. TheDailyPress says Kasie Gokee, 32, ran into another vehicle in Bayfield, then left the vehicle and her two kids, aged 5 and 9 unattended until a friend found them. Gokee’s daughter said she’d seen her mother drinking earlier in the day. Gokee told authorities she had taken medication earlier in the day and then had attended a wake at a bar. She said she has little memory of the evening and could have hit another vehicle. Gokee could be facing decades of prison time for the charges lodged against her.
