Starting today, Monday, the public boat ramp on Oman’s Creek, off Lake Road Road at Little Girls Point will be closed for repairs. The ramp is about 17 miles north of Ironwood. A Michigan Department of Natural Resources field construction crew from the DNR Baraga customer service center will complete the work on the $26,000 project with money provided from the state’s waterways fund, repairing the concrete ramps of the boat launch. The ramp bill be closed until the 30th. While repairs are being made, Saxon Harbor, 8 miles to the west in Wisconsin, can be used to access Lake Superior, as well as Black River Harbor, which is about 20 miles to the east and north of Bessemer.
