SNAP Will No Longer Use Assets As Qualification for Benefits

Theres been an adjustment to the asset limit for those residents receiving food assistance from the state. TheDailyGlobe reports the District 1 Director of the Michigan State University Extension office in Bessmer Paul Putnam gave the County of Commissioners the news late in June. Most food assistance programs will no long use an asset limit to determine who can receive benefits, just income level. The new guideline for SNAP benefit qualification does not apply to anyone receiving other public assistance like SSI or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
