Elderly Washburn Man In Court Over Mistaken Identity

A situation in which a man became violent with process server ended up with the man being charged with false imprisonment and battery. TheDailyPress reports Kim Kingsley, 72, of Washburn, appeared in front of Circuit Judge John P. Anderson and asked the judge to dismiss the charges against him as he acted under emotion duress. Kingsley struck a process server trying to deliver legal eviction papers. He also physically prevented the server from leaving by blocking him with his vehicle and then took the server’s keys from his vehicle. Kingsley struck the victim in the head with a bicycle helmet. He also secured a gate to make it difficult to leave his property. When law enforcement contacted Kingsley, he handed law enforcement the keys and told officers he thought the process server was trespassing on his property. An adjourned initial appearance was set for July 30th.
