Concerned residents in Bayfield County are against a proposed cell tower that would be installed at the northern tip of the Bayfield peninsula. Late last week, a meeting of the county zoning committee was heavily attended by those concerned regarding the proposed project. One resident even had an FCC attorney on Zoom to provide information. Residents say the tower would be too close to the Apostle Island, which is a dark sky location for stargazers. After the public hearing, the committee passed a motion to allow the tower to be built under a conditional use permit. With that vote, the issue will now be heard and voted on by the Bayfield County Board.
