Michigan Lawmakers Working to Lower Entry Age for State Education Program

The Michigan Reconnect Program has announced that lawmakers are working to make the program available to students who are 18 years old. Currently, a person must be at least 21 or older in order to qualify for the program. Allowing 18-year-olds to start the program would allow them to begin vocational training or community college in their own communities rather than moving out of the area to continue their higher education after high school. House District 110 Representative Greg Markekanen of Hancock recently visited A.D. Johnson High School to let students know that work on more funding for the program in the House and Senate is underway.
